The Sociology and Economics Department of the Detroit Public Library
houses materials that focus on the fundamentals of everyday life.
This collection includes the oldest, largest, and most comprehensive
collection of Government Documents in the Metropolitan Detroit
Area dating back to the foundation of the United States. Amongst
these are the Censuses from 1791 to Present (statistical data),
Congressional Records & Hearings, Civil Rights Legislations,
Statistical Abstracts of the United States, the Constitution of
the United States, and Tax Forms. Other subjects include: Sociology,
Economics, Politics & Political Science, Law, Crime &
Criminal Statistics, Labor (Union Constitutions, Union Contracts,
History, and etc.), International Organizations' Publications,
and Foundations
and Grants Information.
