National Library Week

The Detroit Public Library is pleased to join in the National Library Week celebration! National Library Week is an exciting opportunity for library supporters and libraries of all types to raise awareness of their value and impact in their communities.

Libraries provide a public space where all community members, regardless of age, culture or income level, can come together to connect and learn. Thus, the theme of this year’s National Library Week celebration is Libraries = Strong Communities, the theme definitely speaks to the importance of the critical resources, programs and expertise made available to the community.

Concurrently, at the heart of the library system are librarians, administrators, and other support staff who play a valuable role in providing the services that strengthen our communities. Because of their hard work and efforts, Detroit Public Library have been highly successful in meeting its mission to create “dynamic pathways to literacy and learning”.
