Detroit Library Commission

The Detroit Public Library is an independent, municipal corporation governed by a seven member Detroit Library Commission. Members are appointed by the Detroit Public Schools Board of Education. The seventh member, the current president of the Board of Education, is an ex-officio member.

In-Person Meeting Attendance

Most Detroit Library Commission meetings will be held in Main Library's Galleria. Masks are optional for attendees. Seating capacity is limited to the first 30 guests.

Any individual exhibiting symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, OR who has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and is not considered fully recovered by their healthcare provider may not attend Commission meetings in- person.
