At Chapter One Book Club for Kids, we believe that reading is not only educational but also a fantastic way to foster creativity and develop a love for books. Our aim is to create a welcoming environment where children can engage in lively discussions, share their thoughts, and make new friends who share their passion for reading.

Check out the book ahead of time from the library or from Hoopla (free with your Detroit Public Library card), or simply come to Chapter One Book Club, where we will read aloud or listen to the beginning of it on Hoopla and then discuss it.

Prepare as much as or as little as you like - whatever fits your schedule. Book Club can be an opportunity for read-aloud practice -- children can practice reading aloud at home before coming to book club. However, reading aloud is completely voluntary because we can always listen to the audiobook on Hoopla! The point is for your child to experience new books with other kids in a fun way and maybe get hooked on a series that is new to them.
