Film lovers are invited to the Detroit Public Library on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm to participate in the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival. The Library will be screening the 10 short film finalists for FREE, and viewers will be asked to vote for their favorite!
The Detroit Public Library is excited to host the MANHATTAN SHORT festival again after the pandemic and building issues kept the auditorium closed. In fact, the Library is the only location in the city of Detroit, and one of 500 locations world-wide screening the film festival. During this one-week period, audiences across the globe will watch the finalists and then get to vote on best film and best actor. When you visit the Detroit Public Library to view the films, each person will receive a voter card and information on each film. After the screening, the votes will be tallied and sent to the festival organizer in New York. Once all the global votes are tabulated, a winner will be announced.
According to DeAidre Jones, manager at the Detroit Public Library, “Detroit as a whole is critical to the global community in terms of the automobile industry, music, the fine arts, and so much more. Bringing this global festival inside the city limits gives direct and free access to the community in which we serve. It also allows us to be a part of something bigger and elevates our presence in cinema arts.”
