Links to Detroit's Once Large Black Middle Class
The historical impact of Detroit has never been fully told as the Greatest Impetus to the Second Industrial Revolution, the Arsenal of Democracy, and Birth of the Middle Class. Doug Denard's presentation will discuss and link unsung players and systems of liberations through determined enslaved rebellions of the Americas (1500s-1870), excellence in education of Washington DC's Black Middle Class (1870-1950s), and through labor in the grand successor of them all, Detroit's Black Middle Class (1950-1990).
