Jaws and ZoomText

Fusion JAWS and Zoomtext:

Fusion JAWS and Zoomtext is an accessibility tool for our customers with any level of vision impairment. This Fusion software provides the ZoomText, with its screen magnification and visual enhancements for screen viewing ease, together with the power and speed of JAWS. It provides a screen reading functionality program that allows blind and visually impaired users to read a computer screen either with screen magnification and visual enhancements or text-to-speech output.

The Fusion JAWS and Zoomtext software is available on at least one of our handicap assessable computers at the Detroit Public Library branch locations. Please ask the branch librarian for assistance finding the available computer and for help using the software. You will need your library card or a guess pass to sign-up for the computer.

You can also go to the Detroit Public Library’s website to learn more about our “Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (LBPH)” services. LEARN MORE

What is JAWS

Job Access With Speech (JAWS) is screen reading software by the company Freedom Scientific which reads on-screen text interactively while a user engages with the computer. A widely popular screen reader within the blind community since 1995, JAWS effectively transforms the use of a computer from a visual experience into an auditory experience instead. Learn more about JAWS and it's many features under 'features' here

What is ZoomText?

ZoomText is screen magnification software which enlarges a computer's display and makes navigation less strenuous for those with visual impairments. Typically utilized by individuals with a visual impairment, ZoomText has been a popular screen magnifier since its first Windows release in 1991.
