During Winter Break, be sure to stop by the Detroit Public Library and pick up a “Winter Break Activity Kit” to keep kids busy while school is out! Beginning Tuesday, February 20, 2024, stop by any library location for a kit that contains fun and educational activities. Kits include math and reading comprehension worksheets, and also puzzles, coloring sheets, crafts, code breaking activities, and even a free book to add to your home library. The kits are arranged by grade level for children in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade. Each kit will contain grade and age-appropriate activities, books, and worksheets. According to Vernadette McAllister, Coordinator of Major Activity-Children’s Services, “the purpose of the Winter Break Activity Kits is to give parents an alternative other than letting kids sit and view a screen all day.”
