Detroit—The Detroit Public Library (DPL) is pleased to announce the grand re-opening and ribbon-cutting celebration event for the newly renovated Thomas Jefferson Branch Library. The free and open to the public event kicks off on Wednesday, February 26 at 2:30 p.m. Invited guests include civic leaders, neighborhood groups and local residents.
“The Jefferson Branch Library stands as a beacon in the community and serves as a partner encouraging lifelong learning,” said Jo Anne Mondowney, Executive Director of the Detroit Public Library. “The renovations to the Jefferson Branch demonstrate the Detroit Public Library’s ongoing commitment to providing vital library services in the city’s neighborhoods.”
Renovations to the facility include a new heating and cooling system, flooring and furniture, updated lighting, ADA modifications to the restroom, and new computers for public use. The Jefferson Branch is a popular community meeting center that offers a wide range of services and programs to help improve the quality of life for neighborhood residents, including free computer classes, access to the Library’s online resources, enrichment programs for children and much more.
