The Detroit Public Library Galleria is bursting at the seams with a new exhibition of “big works.” Grand Gesture returns to the library this fall after last year’s impressive exhibit. DMJStudio presents Grand Gesture 2026, a group exhibition celebrating the power of art on a large scale. Through paintings, photographs, and mixed media, artists from Detroit and the surrounding region bring bold color, striking compositions, and immersive detail to Galleria.
On view through January 2027, the art in this new exhibit invites you to pause, look closely, and experience how size shapes our connection to art. Each piece makes its own grand gesture, transforming the space it occupies and offering a different perspective.
Featured artists include Alivia Anna Rose, Anthea Calhoun, April Anue Shipp, Basil Zaviski, Bryan Paul Grose, Chase Dearring, Chris Walker, Christina Haylett, Darrell J.
