This September, the Detroit Public Library is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month with new library card designs! The new designs are part of a campaign inspired by the growing excitement and pride in Detroit and the special connection Detroiters have with their city and their library. 2050 Partners, Inc., a Detroit-based marketing firm, worked with DPL to create the campaign concept and bold new graphics that bring that spirit to life.
Library Cards are Free To:
- Detroit and Highland Park residents
- Students, teachers, and employees of schools in Detroit
- City of Detroit employees
- Owners of property in Detroit
- Companies in Detroit (for business purposes)
Learn How to Get Your Free Library Card
A library card allows you to check out books, stream movies and music, borrow laptops and hotspots, access databases and digital resources, and much more! And don’t forget, the Detroit Public Library is FINE FREE. If you forget to bring your book back on the due date, you will not be charged for late items. You must still return your books before checking out additional material and there are still costs for damaged or lost items.
Already have a library card but would like one of the new designs? Replacement cards can be purchased for $1.00.
