The Detroit Public Library has received a number of questions about the removal of several trees and shrubs at Main Library. Please note that the trees and shrubs were removed due to disease. This was a necessary step to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff, and allow for a healthier and more sustainable landscape. Further, we are proud to announce the launch of a comprehensive beautification initiative for the Main Library campus, through a collaboration with DJ’s Landscape Management.
As part of our ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming and vibrant environment for our customers, staff, and the community, this project includes:
- Turf Restoration & Maintenance: Regular mowing, edging, fertilization, and weed control will enhance the health and appearance of our green spaces.
- New Planting Plans: Areas where old vegetation has been cleared will be revitalized with thoughtfully designed plant beds.
- Ongoing Care & Adaptability: Our landscaping team is committed to maintaining the grounds year-round and adapting to evolving needs as the project progresses.
Thank you for your support of the Detroit Public Library.
