Meet Adam Pecar!

Adam Pecar is a Pre-Professional Library Assistant at the Detroit Public Library—you might have seen him at Main and the Jefferson Branch where he’s been working in different capacities since 2010. Adam is getting his MLIS from Wayne State University and currently works for the Children’s Library and the HYPE Teen Center at Main. Did you know that Adam has a background in art, networking, and video game design? According to Adam, he wants “to bring a nerdy pop culture eye to things people might not know about or even if they do, might not know they can get access too be it movies, games, comics, or books.”

Adam is teaming up with fellow librarian and millennial Simon to bring attention to a collection of great material available digitally. Their podcast, entitled “Bored Librarians,” uses a low-end Acer Nitro 5 laptop, a Blue Snowball, and a copy of Open Broadcasting Software to record and upload to Anchor.fm. Any edits are being done with Audacity a free sound software. Says Adam, “we do it because if given a thing we like, Simon and I can gush about it and draw attention to it.”

Asked what else he’s doing to stay busy, Adam is currently going through the old Judge Dredd series from the early eighties (2000 A.D. Series) along with a stack of video games that hasn’t been finished yet, and will next move onto finishing the Unbeatable Squirrel-Girl.

Adam’s coworker is Harley!
