Faren Watson is an Adult Services Librarian and has worked at the Detroit Public Library since April 2019. Faren is new to the Library and Information Sciences field and has been enjoying her journey. She was born in Detroit and obtained her MLIS degree from Wayne State University and her Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. Faren also has a background in customer service and human services.
Prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Faren initiated “Crafternoons” at the Chase Branch as well as co-leading other fun craft programs. She also began a Documentary and Discussion series with the help of her management team.
Faren has always wanted to be in a career that would be of service to people, and becoming a Librarian fulfills that purpose. In her spare time, she enjoys reading fiction, watching horror and suspense films, and researching her family’s genealogy.
