Karen Robertson Henry joined the Detroit Public Library staff in December 2019 and works as the Children and Young Adult Librarian at the Elmwood Park Branch. As she says in the “Read Aloud” videos she’s recording, she loves to read. Ms. Henry especially loves reading with and to others, and getting them excited about anything that stems from books and reading. Ms. Henry hopes to stay connected to her community through her “Read Aloud” series, and to keep the joy of reading ongoing.
Ms. Henry also has some book recommendations for the adults! She just finished reading “American Dirt” by Jeanine Cummins, which she says is a nail-biting human interest drama, great from beginning to end. Currently she borrowed the audiobook “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah, through Hoopla. The book is a wilderness tale, love story, social commentary, psychological drama and coming of age story all rolled in one! “The Great Alone,” according to Ms. Henry, drags you all in, is a must-read and is very well narrated.
