There are three overnight warming centers in Detroit that provide sleeping accommodations, meals, showers, and housing assistance, operated by camdetroit.org:
- Cass Community Social Services at 1534 Webb St - Serves families and women
- Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries at 12900 W. Chicago - Serves families and women
- Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries at 3535 Third Ave - Serves single males
If the temperature drops below 20F and in other emergency cold situations, the City may declare a Code Blue. In a Code Blue, all overnight warming centers and shelters can be accessed at any time by walking in, no referral needed. During a Code Blue, the Cold Weather Line is also operated 24/7 at 866-313-2520 to provide assistance in finding shelter.
To get in placed in a shelter or warming center outside of a Code Blue, please visit camdetroit.org, or call 313-305-0311 from Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm.
In addition to overnight warming centers and shelters, all Detroit Public Library branches and Detroit Recreation Centers are available to warm up in during regular operating hours. For addresses, hours, and contact information for all locations, please view the map embedded below or visit:

The data for this Detroit Public Library managed map was originally sourced from the 'Detroit Needs Management' map, created by
Cass Tretyak of Community & Home Supports Inc. who shared this resource with the
Detroit Public Library through public comment. Tretyak's map
also includes ideas for food, showers, laundry healthcare, LGBTQI+ services, youth
services, and more. You can visit the full map
