Equality Michigan (EQ MI) Allyship Education & Advocacy
Equality Michigan Allyship Education & Advocacy
DPL has partnered with Equality Michigan’s Advocates for Community Empowerment to provide a free dual event featuring LGBTQ+ allyship education AND confidential, individual advocacy consultations!
- The allyship education program provides a foundational understanding of LGBTQ+ identities & experiences, with plenty of time for Q&A with EQMI’s Community Educator. There will be safe, confidential means of asking questions throughout the event should you not want to vocalize. This is intended to be a safe space to learn. The training will take place in the Galleria, at the center of the Library. (See map below.)
- While that is happening, EQMI’s Eastside Advocate will be present to provide excellent guidance & care for those of the LGBTQ+ community experiencing discrimination, harassment or mistreatment. The consultations will take place in the Media Room, adjacent to the Woodward Ave entrance. (See map below.)
Whether you are a new or seasoned ally, or a member of the LGBTQ+ community, we are here to support you through education & advocacy. We especially encourage folks who may know nothing but want to learn.
The allyship education part of this event will be located in the Galleria, which is at the center of the library; the advocacy consultations will be in the Media Room. Please consult the map below for specifics.
