Get free tax preparation assistance at the library this year! The Accounting Aid Society offers no-cost tax preparation assistance to qualifying (income under $69,000) individuals and families. For over 20 years, the Accounting Aid Society has offered tax preparation and support here at the Detroit Public Library for free.
You can make an appointment at Main, Douglass, or Duffield by calling the Accounting Aid Society at 313-556-1920 or using their online form: Schedule an appointment
When scheduling your appointment, be sure to review the checklist of documents to bring. You will need ID, your social security card and any income documents. During the appointment, most individuals will be able to have their taxes filed electronically.
AARP Tax Aide is also providing free tax preparation assistance at the Edison Branch. See details below.
