MLK Speaks Poster Contest at Duffield Branch

Eight dynamic poster submissions, mixed media, for the MLK Speaks Posters Contest

About the MLK Speaks Poster Contest from Karen Robertson Henry, Asst. Manager & Children's Librarian at Duffield Branch

Contestants were invited to design a poster inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous quote: “The time is always right to do the right thing.”

This marked our second year hosting the contest. We received eight entries and were overjoyed by the growing interest and participation. Each poster was thoughtfully created, and every participant is a winner for their effort, creativity, and engagement. We sincerely thank all who took part and hope to welcome them back next year—along with even more participants.

Gift card prizes were awarded to first-, second-, and third-place winners.

· Third place was awarded to DeeLawrence McCall, whose poster portrayed along with Dr King, other activists who made time and space to do the right thing.

· Second place went to Brandon Watts, who, in a strong graphic art style, illustrated not only the concept of time but also showed that no matter where we are, it is always the right time to do what is right.

· First place was awarded to Rileigh Godfrey, whose artwork depicted a powerful image of Dr. King in rich, vibrant color, set against the backdrop of infinite time.
