Gro-Town Seed Stations at the Detroit Public Library

Seed Station

Celebrate Spring by planting vegetables and flowers! Seed stations have returned to the Detroit Public Library. Stop by any open location to pick up a seed packet while supplies last. Each Gro-Town Seed Station contains 150 – 200 packets of vegetable, herb and flower seeds that children can choose to take home and plant their own garden.

“Through music, videos, and community gardening initiatives, Gro-Town seeks to instill a sense of gratitude and wonderment for the world outside our windows” says founder Danielle Carlomusto. You might remember Miss Danielle from her previous appearances at the library—singing songs about gardening and bringing her Vegetable Petting Zoo so kids can get up close and personal with different fruits and vegetables. For Miss Danielle, “the Gro-Town Seed Stations offer an opportunity to not only create a connection to the outdoors and burgeoning love of growing, but to further the bond between a child and their community.”

The Detroit Public Library is excited to continue partnering with Miss Danielle and Gro-Town. Next time you come to the library, be sure to have the kids pick up a seed packet and a book about gardening.
