While our physical locations are currently closed, we’ve been working behind the scenes to answer your questions, make sure you have access to our digital content, and keep you informed of the resources you can use while at home. To help with this effort, we have a new staff member joining who will be assisting with social media. Meet Woodward—the newest addition to the Detroit Public Library marketing team!
Woodward the cat will be working at home to help communicate information about social distancing, interview staff, and keep our customers looking forward to following the library on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
Woodward, what special skills will you bring to the Detroit Public Library?
Well, I’ve been watching my mom work from home and it doesn’t seem difficult. Also, I have my own laptop. Come to think of it—I think my computer is made out of cardboard. I also know how to disrupt virtual meetings and conference calls.
What type of wisdom can you pass along regarding social distancing?
I’ve been known to spend hours under a bed or in a closet and have a good time. I like to hide where no one can find me, even though they’re looking and calling my name. Staring out the window or into space contemplating for long stretches of time and breaking up my day with multiple naps—I think information about social distancing is in my wheelhouse.
How can you improve our social media?
One word, cats. You have no pictures of cats.
Since this is a library, what are you reading right now?
I’m not much of a reader, streaming videos of birds eating under a feeder is more my speed. My mom recently got a book called “Crafting with Cat Hair” for me. I like that she’s now brushing me multiple times a day to collect my fur, but she’s getting a little weird.
