Slime & Snacks

Summer Reading Kick-Off with slime-a-palooza! Make your own slime to take home, have snacks, and sign up for Summer Reading.
Summer Reading Fun
Join the Franklin Branch Summer Reading Club for fun activities and prizes all summer long! Borrow great books and graphic novels, win prizes for reading, and make new friends. Suggested ages 5-18.
All activities take place on Tuesdays from 2:00 – 3:00 pm:
- July 1: Painting Party—paint your own canvas to take home
- July 8: Build A Doodle-Bot—build a robot that colors
- July 15: Rock Painting—learn new ways to paint rocks to decorate your house
- July 22: Electric Lightning Bug—make a clay but that lights up
- July 29: Finale Party—stop in for snacks, games and prizes
Drop in Activities
Stop in for a different activity each week when the library is open. Make the activity any time up until a half hour before close. Ask for the materials at the Reference Desk. Suggested ages 8 and up.

Peg + Cat Experience (Ages 3 - 5)

Join Peg and her lovable sidekick Cat as they solve problems and explore the world of early math. This session by Detroit PBS Kids will feature Peg + Cat video screenings, engaging math activities, and storytime with related books.
Adult Screening: Building the Reading Brain

Calling all parents and caregivers! Join Detroit PBS for a special screening of Building the Reading Brain, an insightful program designed to help you understand how children learn to read. Explore the science of how the brain learns to read, expert advice from educators and neuroscientists, and practical tips to support your child’s literacy development.
Odd Squad Experience (Ages 5-8)
