Summer Reading Kick-Off
Friday, June 27, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Get ready for a summer of reading and fun activities! Make a tie dye tote bag and register for Summer Reading.
Fridays at the Redford Branch
Join us each week as we explore a different type of art activity! Bring your Summer Reading log for fun prizes each Friday.
Lunch will be served from Noon – 12:45 pm in the basement with art activities immediately following.
Collage Week: Collage Boards
Friday, July 11, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Using Mod Podge or contact paper, we’ll create a collage based around famous collage artists for inspiration. Take and makes include a suncatcher to paint and a rainbow scratch art board.
Painting Week: Self Portraits
Friday, July 18, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Create your own self-portrait with tempera paint and discover the history of self-portraiture. Take and makes include wooden “wiggly” snakes to paint and a DIY puzzle
Sculpture Week: Air-Dry Clay
Friday, July 25, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Create your own sculpture with air-dry clay. Coil pots, trinket dishes…the possibilities are endless! Take home a color-your-own fuzzy poster too!
Textiles Week: Leather Jewelry
Friday, August 1, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Create your own textile art (bracelets, keychains, etc.) using leather scraps. Take and makes include Origami paper with instructions, as well as a DIY kaleidoscope.
Summer Reading Finale Party!
Friday, August 8, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
A gallery display of favorite creations throughout the summer, a photobooth, and lots of fun prizes!
