Summer Reading 2026 at Jefferson

Unearth a Story: Kickoff
Monday, June 22, 5:30 – 7:30pm
Kick off our summer of fossil fun with a real-life paleontologist! Learn all about dinosaurs and the marks they left behind—and even get to handle real fossils. Registration for Summer Reading begins at 5:30 pm, with our paleontologist presenting at 6:00 pm. For families, children, and teens.

Dinostaury
Tuesdays, June 23, 30 & July 7, 14, 21, 28, 10:30 – 11:00 am
Join our Summer Reading Storytime with a ferocious theme! Enjoy a 6-week series of dinosaur stories and activities as part of our Summer Reading Program. Each storytime will feature a dinosaur story, a song, and an activity or craft. This storytime is good for families or young readers under 8.

TyrannoSCIENCE
Thursdays, June 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 11:00 am – Noon
Explore the science of dinosaurs with hands on crafts and activities for 6+ years old. Each week features a different scientific focus. On Thursdays at 11 am we will meet to get hands on with science!

Mondays, June 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Summer Reading isn't all books. Join our art class for teens! Taught by a professional instructor, teens explore different art mediums and express their creativity within our Dinosaur theme! Check out our other fun summer reading activities. For ages 12+

Unearth a Story with 826michigan
Wednesdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Unearth your story by writing about the footprints you see, or how to escape from a dinosaur with the help of instructors from 826michigan. This writing workshop is for writers from 5 to 11 years old. 826michigan will be joining us on July 15 only, the other writing workshops will be conducted by library staff.

Unearth a Story: Finale
Friday, July 31, 3:00- 5:00 pm
Celebrate a summer spent reading! Turn in your final reading logs for prizes, and join in a Jurassic celebration. Enjoy our selfie station, craft and activity tables, snacks and prizes. For families, children, and teens.
