Summer Reading Kickoff!
Friday, June 26, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Sign up for program participation, play some yard games, grab a yummy snack,
and connect with your community! Summer Reading Program participants
will have a chance to experiment with a fizzy dinosaur egg and create a
collaborative cave painting. This event will be held outside, weather permitting.
Creating Time Capsules
Thursday, July 2, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Decorate
a time capsule to remember this summer! Supplies will be provided to
create a great looking time capsule--which participants will be able to
take home and fill up with things to remember when they open it back up
to unearth their own stories!
Detroit Metroparks
Friday, July 10, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Learn
about animal tracks, fossil formation, and more with Detroit
Metroparks! Create your own fossil print with air dry clay and learn
how scientists study fossils to learn about the past. This program may
include an animal special guest.
Footprints
Friday, July 17, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Hosted
by 826michigan, turn mystery footprints into unforgettable stories!
Participants imagine the animals behind the tracks, then collaborate to
create a thrilling Choose Your Own Adventure.
Dinosaur Fossil Excavation
Friday, July 24, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Put on your paleontologist hat and come excavate some dinosaurs at the library! Using an assortment of tools, participants will uncover dinosaurs and maybe more!
Summer Reading Finale
Friday, July 31, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Celebrate the summer with our finale party! All
summer reading participants will win prizes, and there will be
a backpack giveaway to prepare for the coming school year!
